Heading into July with an (almost) nationwide lockdown isn’t ideal. But these few moments of downtime have given us a chance to reflect on all the epic stuff that went down at One76 this month … and damn June was a big one.
1. Music Production Masterclass with Latour
A first of its kind on the Coast, we hosted our very first Masterclass with local legend Latour. From beat-breakdown, sample sourcing, and working with a thousand different plugins – Latour covered it all. A perfect mix of tips and tricks for beginners to total pros and all in between.
Missed out on the fun? Head to our Instagram Highlights for a behind-the-scenes look at the whole event.
2. Industry Insider – Passion To Profit with Brok Neilsen
We were lucky enough to have Brok Neilsen from Together Agency answer a stack of questions about his evolving career, his vision for the future, and the hospitality industry in general.
“Three key things I’ve learned throughout my time in hospitality:
When you’re looking down the barrel of a full venue, people are lined up around the corner, and over the radio comes the call that a patron has just fallen through the floor of the room upstairs, you really find out how good you are at thinking on your feet.
2. Everyone lies
Whether they are coming from the customers, the staff or the owners, everyone is looking to portray themselves in a certain light and sometimes, lying helps them speed up this process.
3. No time off
We get calls sometimes at 11pm at night, a DJ is running late, someone is feeling sick, a venue has had someone no-show and needs us to fill a last minute shift.”
Check out the full interview here.
3. LOVE N’ TRUST Single Release
One76’s own WE ARE ISO debuted their second single LOVE N’ TRUST, written and produced in our very own sound studio.
This dancefloor filler has already been picked up and shared by MTV Upload, Triple J, Tone Deaf, Australian Music Scene, Amplifire, The BRAG Media video of the week (to make a few).
Give them some love – LOVE N’ TRUST out now platforms.
4. The Sampled Podcast ep #3 with Teddy Briggs
One of our returning podcasters Sam Matheson came in to record another episode of his podcast ‘Sampled’, a show about communication, confidence, relationships, how to develop business alliances and improve your dating life.
For episode 3, Sam brought along guest Teddy Briggs from Love Island to talk about the rise of fame and status in the ever-evolving space of social dynamics.
5. Industry Insider – The Future of the Fashion Industry with The Fashion Collective
We recently interviewed Andrew Claridge and Trudie Bristow from The Fashion Collective as they prepared for Afterpay Australian Fashion Week, as part of our Industry Insider series.
They shared the inside scoop on dealing with “sharks” within the fashion industry, how to keep up with the evolving creative industry and their drive to shake up the stereotype of Gold Coast fashion and culture.
“… Simply being a fashion lover isn’t enough to stick around for the long haul in this business. You need your passion to be scaffolded by fashion history and design knowledge, psychology and business. Align yourself with proven industry leaders and mentors, don’t be afraid to ask if you can intern and do a stint of work experience mentoring.”
6. Special Guest: Masked Wolf
One76 Sound Studio has a new regular; rising hip/hop trap artist Masked Wolf. We’ve had the privilege of being his go-to studio on the Coast for him to work on his latest projects (and damn they’re sounding good).
With his Tiktok viral track ‘Astronaut In The Ocean’ hitting over 500million streams on Spotify alone, Masked Wolf is well on his way to stardom, while still staying the friendly and humble boy from Sydney.
7. Supporting Aussie eCom Label – Nice Martin
Australian fashion label Nice Martin came in to shoot some of their latest collection, with the incredibly talented photographer Charlotte O’Sullivan. Nice Martin styles are influenced by an everyday handsome aesthetic and a feminine cool.
As proud partners with i=Change, Nice Martin says “We’ve taken a new approach to slower fashion, doing small runs of production, taking less from the environment and in the end giving you more. Knowing that when you make a purchase from us, your impact is less.”
It was a pleasure to have the whole team in and look forward to having them back!
8. June Tunes – Spotify Playlist
Last month we also released our first Spotify Playlist, packed with spicy tracks to warm up your winter. With the new month brings a new supply of knee slappers to get you through another grueling month of 2021.
